排長（鄭則仕飾）與阿英（許冠英飾）喬裝趕屍道人，與五名扮成僵屍的同夥夾帶鴉片販賣路經馬祥坪。 獨霸一方的苗老爺為强占歌女害死琴師阿昌，威逼利誘托排長攜屍體出城。 七人出城進入原始森林，不慎將屍體遺落於硫磺沼澤，眾人將錯就錯，尋至客店安歇。當晚一名同夥遇害，鄉民傳言厲鬼作祟，排長與其餘五人蒐集大蒜等物赴荒郊祛鬼，經由古墓內的幾番交手，排長等人一敗塗地。 排長與阿英逃得性命後折返馬祥坪向苗老爺報信，始知厲鬼動機只在向苗老爺尋仇，排長眼見助陣道士鬥法厲鬼失敗，趁機施計要脅苗老爺，反被對方制服，充作與厲鬼決戰時的肉餌……
